Professor Werner Lefeldt visited UMTE

On March 11 2019 an outstanding German researcher in the field of Slavic Studies, Faculty member of the Gottingen Academy of Sciences, Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Werner Lehfeldt visited the St. Petersburg University of Management Technologies and Economics.

At a meeting with the university’s leadership he discussed the prospects for partnership and outlined plans for scientific cooperation for the near future.

Following this discussion Prof. Dr. Dr. Lehfeldt held a lecture for students and teachers. The lecture was organized by the Department of Pedagogy, Psychology and Translations, with the active participation of the Head of the Department, Ph.D., Associate Professor Irina Tkacheva. Prof. Dr. Dr. Lefeldt talked about one of the important aspects developed in his monograph “Accent and stress in Russian Language” (M., 2010), and described the synchronous variation of the Russian accent.

After the lecture, the students asked the professor about the status of linguistic research in Germany, as well as about his personal life and research. Undoubtedly, this meeting expands the horizons of international cooperation of the University and brings an academic note to the professional training of linguists.
