23 April 2024
On World Book and Copyright Day, the UMTE Library held a book flash mob “The Book and I”. The purpose of this project is to create a positive and attractive image of a reading person among young people.
UNESCO's proclamation of April 23 as World Book and Copyright Day is intended to draw attention to reading, publishing and intellectual property protection within the framework of copyright.
The decision was taken with the aim of education, cultural awareness, as well as taking into account the fact that books are the greatest means of spreading knowledge, and the most reliable way to preserve it.
Thanks to the book, we have access not only to knowledge, but also to ideas, spiritual and moral values, understanding of beauty and human creative achievements. An information carrier, the basis of education and creativity, the book gives each culture the opportunity to tell about itself, introduces readers to the customs and traditions of different peoples.
Together with the World Book and Copyright Day, the whole world celebrates the birthday of the great William Shakespeare. For the 460th anniversary of the poet and playwright, the library prepared a virtual exhibition “The Comedies of William Shakespeare” and held an open lesson in the reading room with College students and 2nd year students of the “Publishing” educational program. You can find the exhibition and news about the event on the library's website.
We wish everyone to find their own book and charge others with reading energy!
