Prospective students are always curious about what awaits them in student life. The best way to find out is through dialogue with peers. Today, we present an interview with Dmitry Prokhorenko, a first-year student majoring in «Financial Management».
- Dmitry, how did you choose your university and future specialty?
- I decided to apply to this university because, despite my modest scores on the Unified State Exam (USE), it gave me a chance to gain the knowledge I need, which will be useful for realizing my plans in the future. I chose my specialty based on what I currently lack, and if I can master the material, it will be easier to achieve my goals.
- What challenges did you face during your adaptation to university life?
- Although I immediately set a goal to expand my social circle, I encountered certain difficulties during the adaptation period.
- What impressions of student life have you formed in your first year at the university?
- An incredible number of impressions! I do not regret at all that I tried a bit of everything. It was an unforgettable and valuable experience that allowed me to make new acquaintances and see what it's really like to engage in various activities that interest me. I've come to understand myself and others better. I discovered what I'm truly capable of. There was so much new and interesting that it's hard to describe; you have to live it. Go for it!
- What student events did you participate in? What new things did you discover about yourself and in general this year?
- As I mentioned earlier, I tried to engage in various activities. I participated in contests, concerts, and events organized by our university. I sang, danced, recited poetry, and even performed traditional Russian songs; I volunteered as well. Now, besides taking my studies seriously, I'm fully committed to the Student Teaching Squad «Teplo». These are the people I feel good with, and it's something I enjoy. I recommend everyone to try being a camp counselor.
- How has your vision of your future career changed after your first year of study?
- In general, not much has changed, I continue to strive for new knowledge and believe in myself.
- What advice would you give to future students just starting their university journey?
- Take the plunge, don't doubt yourself. Take action and do whatever stands in your way, you will overcome it. I followed similar principles and became stronger, and I will become even stronger. You will too if you want it. I believe in you, be honest and remember: the main thing is desire!
