On the second Sunday in September, all people around the world mark this sorrowful day - Day of Remembrance of Victims of Fascism. This year, it falls on the 8th of September. This date was chosen for the Memorial Day for the reason that in the early days of September the Second War began and ended.
The Day of Remembrance of Victims of Fascism was established in 1962 by the United Nations. The slogan of today’s memorable day is to unite to oppose neo-fascism.
During the Second World War, more than 55 million people died in battles on the fronts, under bombs in towns and villages, on water and land, in concentration camps and Gestapo cells. The Soviet Union lost the most - 27 million soldiers and civilians.
