The student's club «Izmailovskaya Sloboda» introduces the first-year students with the historical heritage of the Admiralteysky district of St. Petersburg, where Izmailovskaya Sloboda was located in the 18th century.
On September 18, there was a tour for the 1st year students of the «Advertising and public relations». The authors of the tour – the head of the student's club Natalia Vladimirova and the director of the university library Natalia Yemelyanova led it for students.
The route was taken along the Fontanka River. The students got acquainted with the Alexander Hospital for the working population in memory of February 19, 1861 - one of the oldest in the city, the Serebryakovs' Revenue House by architect Rusk Franz Ivanovich, where Sergei Prokofiev lived from 1913 to 1917, the Garnovsky House, where the barracks of the Izmailovsky Life Guards Regiment were located, Derzhavin's estate and the Polish Garden. The final destination was Izmailovsky Garden, where the Fontanka Youth Theater and the sculpture of the St. Petersburg Angel are located.
Virtual tour routes can be found on the library's website, where three virtual pathways around Izmailovskaya Sloboda are offered. Each object on the map is clickable, has a photo and a brief description. The map will allow you to «walk» around Lermontovsky Avenue, Fontanka River's Embankment, Troitsky Avenue, Izmailovsky Avenue and Krasnoarmeysky Streets.
