The Day of the Russian Statehood's Birth

The Day of the origin of Russian statehood is celebrated annually on September, 21. This holiday symbolizes the unity of citizens, community of spirit and desire for unity.

Traditionally, the starting point of national history, the date of the birth of Russian statehood is considered 1862. According to historical information, it was the day that Emperor Alexander II, put forward the initiative to celebrate the date when the emperor was called by the Slavs to rule. At that time, this event was exactly 1000 years old.

In modern Russia, the decision to organize celebrations for this event was made on March 3, 2011. The Decree of the Russian Federation's President.

The date of the holiday was timed to the opening of the monument «Millennium of Russia» in the Novgorod's Kremlin in 1862.
