On September 18-22, students of the St. Petersburg university of management technologies and economics traveled to the city of Kostroma under the student tourism program «Studtourism».
Our delegation was first greeted by the students of Kostroma State University. Representatives of «the welcome center» led an excursion around the city. Kostroma is famous for its rich historical heritage - the historical building of the central part of the city is well preserved.
As a trading city, Kostroma is not very rich about the temple architecture, but a special place among its attractions is occupied by the Ipatievsky Monastery, a historical monument of key importance in the history of Russia. The students also visited there. The Ipatievsky monastery is known primarily as the cradle of the Romanov royal dynasty. It was here that the young Mikhail Romanov, who laid the foundation of this dynasty, hid from the detachments of polish interventionists during the Time of Troubles, and it was from here that he was called to the reign.
Our students visited Kostroma State University, met with the Vice-Rector for Youth Policy and Educational Activities Olga Scriabina and student activists. The prospects of cooperation and development of student tourism were discussed at the meeting. At the university, they were also impressed by the layout of the city, which was made by Kostroma students themselves.
One of the days of the trip was devoted to an excursion to the city of Yaroslavl. The guys had a wonderful tour of the city, a thousand-year history of which is impressive. More than 780 historical and cultural monuments have been preserved in Yaroslavl, and UNESCO protects its historical center.
Ekaterina Melnik, student of the Institute of Economics and Finance: «I have long wanted to visit the city of the Golden Ring of Russia, and thanks to our university I was able to do it! Beautiful quiet city, there is a place to walk and see, reasonable prices. Special thanks for the rich program: we visited Kostroma State University, went on a sightseeing tour around Kostroma, joined the quest «Mazai Hares», visited the Ipatievsky Monastery. On the last day of the trip we went to the Yaroslavl Сity, where we also had a sightseeing tour and heard history of the city, which is more than 1000 years old! I really enjoyed it! I would love to go again»!
Taisiya Goryainova, student of the Institute of Economics and Finance: «I will definitely remember my trip to Kostroma for a long time! It was very interesting to visit the city, which is very different in its architecture from St. Petersburg. For three days we had time to visit many churches and monasteries, which amazed me with their beauty, which has been preserved even after 1000 years! I was very happy to get a warm hospitality of the guys from the Kostroma state university, who led us on a tour not only through the buildings of their university, but also around the city. In general, the trip left only warm emotions, the city is brightly imprinted in my memory, and the company with which we went on a trip, created an even more cozy atmosphere. I will definitely advise other students to travel through the student tourism program, as it is an incredible experience and very colorful impressions».
