On the outlook of the Worlds tourism day, September 24, the traditional International scientific and practical conference of students, young explorers and scientists «Heritage in the young hands: new trends» started its work at the UMTE.
The conference is annually joined not only universities of the Northern capital, but also from the far regions of the Russian Federation and CIS countries. This year new conference participants were students from Bukhara State University (Republic of Uzbekistan), Vitus Bering Kamchatka State University and Vladimir State University.
Inga Filippova, Head of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality of UMTE, outlined the main directions of the conference. They included: innovative technologies of natural heritage preservation: experience, practice, science; problems of cultural heritage preservation: past, present and future; problems of preserving the identity of the peoples of the world: spiritual intangible heritage; heritage of the CIS countries; sustainable tourism at the sites of cultural and natural heritage; promotion of monuments of cultural and natural heritage: publicity, PR and media; heritage and languages.
First Deputy Chairman of the Committee for tourism development of St. Petersburg Evgeny Pankevich in his greeting speech noted the importance of the conference theme: «Cultural heritage is what unites us all, our cultural code is what the country is based on». He also reminded that students are always welcome to practice at the City Tourist Information Agency and Congress and Exhibition Agency of St. Petersburg, invited to participate in a large round table on the development of creative industries, which will be held in early October: «We are always in favor of good, proper communication - that's how you gain experience».
Dmitry Dmitriev, a deputy of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg, a member of the specialized commission on tourism industry, read out the congratulations to the conference participants of Elena Rakhova, the chairman of the specialized commission on tourism industry of the St. Petersburg Legislative Assembly, and noted that the fact of the presence of representatives of two authorities - executive and legislative - at the conference shows the importance of such scientific and practical events. «The developments that will be discussed here today will form the basis of decisions taken in our city,» the parliamentarian emphasized.

Valery Slanov, director of the Institute of Creative Industries and Hospitality of UMTE, and Nutfillo Ibragimov, head of the department of tourism and hospitality of Bukhara State University, also greeted the conference participants.
The university representative from the Republic of Uzbekistan noted that their university has been cooperating with UMTE already for a year, and professors and scientists of the two universities are preparing a common project - the publication of a monograph on the preservation of cultural heritage of our countries.
One of the moderators of the conference was Anna Somova, head of the consulting and classification Center of the Union «St. Petersburg chamber of commerce and industry», who talked about the long-standing cooperation between the university and the St. Petersburg chamber of commerce and industry in training specialists for the tourism and hospitality industry, which not only accepts students for internships, but also promotes their employment.
The reports of the conference participants were dedicated to the preservation of cultural and natural heritage, development of sustainable tourism in Kamchatka Krai, Altai, the Republic of Bashkortostan, the Republic of Tyva, the Republic of Tatarstan, the Republic of Karelia, St. Petersburg, Sevastopol, Tula and Arkhangelsk regions, as well as in Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Spain, Indonesia.
Much attention was paid by students of various universities to the development of patriotic tourism and also industrial and event tourism.
For the fifth time, the conference «Heritage in the young hands has become a platform for the exchange of ideas between students and young scientists from universities in St. Petersburg and other regions, educating young people to respect the culture of their country and the convergence of cultures of different peoples.

Summarizing the results of the work, its participants noted the relevance of the issues of preserving cultural and natural heritage, which today are the driver of sustainable development of the tourism industry in Russia, the importance of preserving non-material heritage, as well as the need to develop new areas of tourism, which will contribute to increasing the tourism potential of Russian regions.
