Happy Tourism Day!

World Tourism Day is a holiday for travelers and professionals who are working in this field. On September 27, it is celebrated in more than 150 countries around the world, including Russia.

World Tourism Day was established at the third session of the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization (WTO), held in 1979 in Manila. It has been celebrated since 1980 annually on September 27. But back in 1925 in The Hague was established the International congress of official tourism organizations, later renamed the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). The Congress was concerned not only with the development of tourism, but also paid great attention to its commercial side and the opportunities that tourism could open for the economies of different countries.

The World Tourism Organization announces the annual slogan for this holiday. The theme for September 27, 2023 is «Tourism and Green Investment», this year's central theme is «Tourism and Peace».

In recent years, domestic tourism in Russia has been strengthening. New directions are developing, such as event, health, educational, scientific tourism, interest in industrial, rural, gastronomic tourism is increasing. Students of UMTE actively take part in scientific competitions, which contribute to the improvement of tourism potential of St. Petersburg, popularization of new tourism directions.

UMTE actively involved in the program «Studtourism». In summer and autumn of 2024 as part of this program our students visited Kostroma and Yaroslavl, Veliky Novgorod, the city of military glory, cultural, educational and innovative center of Karelia - Petrozavodsk.

We would like to congratulate all employees of the tourism industry, teachers and students of «Tourism», and also all travel enthusiasts with the holiday. Let the routes always be interesting, service - at the highest level.
