«The Izmailovskaya Sloboda» student club keeps introducing freshmen to the history of the Izmailovsky Regiment and the legendary Red Army Streets where the university is located.

On September 23, a journey into the history of Izmailovskaya Sloboda was held. Konstantin Netuzhilov, the scientific director of «the Izmailovskaya Sloboda» student club, led the first-year students on an excursion «Secrets of Izmailovskaya Sloboda: the history of creation and formation». The students made a walking tour along the 9th Red Army Street, where they learned amazing facts about the history of the buildings they pass by every day.

The former barracks buildings of the Izmailovsky Regiment, which were built in 1898 by architect Fyodor Volkov, have survived until nowadays. Architectural masterpieces and secrets that hide behind the facades of the beautiful buildings of Fedorov's Bunkhouse and Kamarin's mansion were brilliantly revealed by Konstantin Netuzhilov. For example, Lyceum No. 281, a modern educational institution with the newest material base, is located in the school building that was built in 1947.

The learning of the history of Izmailovskaya Sloboda continued with a local history quiz «Perspective of Izmailovskaya Sloboda», prepared and conducted by the head librarian Galina Kasyanova.

Two teams competed: «Aboltusy and «EXILE SHOW». The quiz included questions about the history of the Izmailovsky Regiment Sloboda, about the names of streets (companies), starting from the VIII century, about houses and people who lived on the territory of the Sloboda.

In the team game the participants demonstrated their knowledge and erudition. The jury members Natalia Vladimirova and Natalia Emelyanova reviewed the teams’ answers. «EXILE SHOW» team won with a small difference.
