Topical issues of management sociology were discussed at the international conference in Saint Petersburg University of Technology Management and Economics

On October 10, 2024, the IV International Scientific-Practical Conference titled "Sociology of Management: Current Issues of Modernity" began at the Saint Petersburg University of Management Technologies and Economics.

In his welcoming speech to the conference participants, the Rector of Saint Petersburg University of Management Technologies and Economics, Oleg Smeshko, emphasized the relevance of the issues being raised and expressed gratitude to the co-organizer, the Sociological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (a branch of the Federal Center of Theoretical and Applied Sociology of the Russian Academy of Sciences), as well as the university's international partners – the Belarusian National Technical University and the Sukhoi State Technical University of Gomel.
 On behalf of the co-organizer, Elena Tykanova, Deputy Director for Research at the Sociological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, congratulated the attendees on the opening of the conference. She emphasized that in light of new challenges, "management is a task with an asterisk, an open-ended question."

Rustam Khamzin, Director of the Research Institute of Statistics of Rosstat, participated in the conference. He expressed readiness to collaborate with UMTE and highlighted the opportunity for university students to join the scientific teams of the Research Institute of Statistics of Rosstat, which are implementing projects commissioned by the state.

During the plenary session titled "Current Issues in the Sociology of Management at the Present Stage" (moderated by Vitaly Mordovets, Head of the Department of Management of Socio-Economic Systems at UMTE, and Albina Beschastnaya, Professor at the Department of State and Municipal Management of the North-West Institute of Management of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, RANEPA), participants discussed pressing issues in the theory and practice of management sociology in the context of the new reality. Topics included the social aspects of digitalization in management within the paradigm of sustainable development and the expansion of scientific collaboration within the academic community in the field of sociological knowledge.

The keynote speakers included: Viktor Kirienko, Doctor of Sociological Sciences, Professor, Head of the Sociological Laboratory at the Sukhoi State Technical University of Gomel (Gomel, Republic of Belarus); Sergey Solodovnikov, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Economics and Law at the Belarusian National Technical University (Minsk, Republic of Belarus); Elena Nedoseka, Candidate of Sociological Sciences, Senior Researcher at the Sociological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences; Galina Menshikova, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor at Saint Petersburg State University; Albina Beschastnaya, Doctor of Sociological Sciences, Professor at the North-West Institute of Management, RANEPA.

Following the presentation of reports and discussions, the conference continued with a section for young scientists and specialists on the topic "Current Issues in Sociology: Research, Achievements, Innovations." PhD students from UMTE discussed contemporary issues in the sociology of management, the involvement of youth in research activities, and other topics related to socio-economic development. 

The conference will continue its work tomorrow, October 11. An international roundtable titled "Theoretical and Scientific-Practical Sociological Analysis of Management" will be held, organized in collaboration with colleagues from the Sukhoi State Technical University of Gomel. Additionally, a student section titled "Sociological Research on Youth Social Activity in Management Processes" will take place.
