Saint Petersburg University of Management Technologies and Economics continues to expand its cooperation with Chinese universities. On October 29, 2024, Rector Oleg Smeshko made an official visit to Liaoning University, where a ceremonial signing of a cooperation agreement between the two institutions took place.
Oleg Smeshko: "We have all the necessary resources and, most importantly, a strong willingness to build a successful and mutually beneficial cooperation."
The rector of UMTE Oleg Smeshko and Rector of the Chinese University Yu Miaojie discussed the key areas of cooperation, exchanged warm words expressing hope for further productive partnership and presented commemorative gifts.
The new agreement formalized the friendly intentions of both parties to develop academic mobility programs, conduct joint research, and implement collaborative projects. In addition, the universities agreed to hold a series of online meetings in the near future to develop a cooperation program. The parties plan to discuss the possibility of organizing a joint summer school, which could take place in Shenyang, where the university is located, and in Saint Petersburg.
The two parties first met and held business negotiations on developing mutually beneficial cooperation in the fields of education and science during the Eastern Economic Forum, which took place from September 3 to 6.

Liaoning University is located in Shenyang, Liaoning Province. It was established in November 1948 on the basis of the Northeast Business College. This was the first specialized business college founded by the Communist Party of China. The university offers 72 undergraduate programs, 27 main master's programs, and 25 specialized master's programs, including MBA, MPA, JM, MTCSOL, MFA, and others. Currently, Liaoning University has approximately 26,000 students, including 18,000 bachelor and master's students, over 7,300 postgraduate students, and more than 1,800 international students.
