Katrin Lisyukova, a fourth-year student of the Institute of Language Communication and Psychology, took part in the First Ministerial Conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum held on November 9–10, 2024, at the Sirius University in Sochi.
This new dialogue format, established by the decision of the second Russia-Africa Summit in Saint Petersburg in July 2023, aims to serve as a coordination mechanism for the implementation of the objectives set out by the Heads of State and Government.
Katrin, whose major is Linguistics, found the forum not only an engaging event but also an opportunity to test her language and translation skills.
She shared her impressions about participating in the Forum:
“I had the chance to become a part of the large-scale and significant event of the First Ministerial Conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum (RAPF). I was a volunteer in the Congress Block. My main responsibilities included preparing the conference hall, providing interpreters with session materials and communicating with foreign participants of the Forum. I was lucky enough to come inside a real simultaneous interpretation booth, to meet the colleagues and talk to them, to learn new information about interpreter's work and to get acquainted with simultaneous interpreting equipment. I gained an incredible and valuable professional and personal experience that will benefit my future career.”
