Oleg Smeshko, Rector of Saint Petersburg University of Management Technologies and Economics (UMTE), congratulated the university’s faculty and their colleagues, working in the other Russian universities on their professional holiday, Higher Education Teachers’ Day.
Higher Education Teachers’ Day is celebrated in Russia on 19th of November. The holiday was established by the order of the Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov on November 1, 2021. The date was not chosen by chance: the great scientist, teacher and mentor, founder of Moscow State University Mikhail Lomonosov was born on the 19th of November.
Rector of Saint Petersburg University of Management Technologies and Economics Oleg Smeshko:
"Dear colleagues, dear friends, I congratulate you on your professional holiday, Higher Education Teachers’ Day! Teaching is not just a profession or job: it is a calling, a challenging and responsible mission. Today, as many years ago, the main task of a teacher is to make students enthusiastic about learning, to discover their talent, to help them to find themselves and their life path and to fulfill their potential. A teacher is not just a specialist who provides students with foundational knowledge, but a friend, a mentor. Being a higher school teacher is a great work that requires constant development of pedagogical skills and cultural awareness, as well as the application of creativity and erudition, self-discipline and high responsibility. These are the teachers who work in UMTE.
From all my heart, I wish you to have inexhaustible interest in life, to reach all of your creative goals and to have talented and enthusiastic students! May your classrooms always be filled with an atmosphere of goodwill, curiosity and passion for learning and creativity. Wishing you success, joy, good fortune and happiness in your personal lives!"
The celebration in honor of the Higher Education Teachers’ Day will be held on the 29th of November at 12.00 in the Great Assembly Hall. We invite you to join the celebration!
