22 November 2024
On November 22, Psychologist's Day is celebrated in Russia. The celebration once again emphasises the importance of the professional work of these specialists aimed at achieving harmony in human life and maintaining our emotional balance.
In Russia, the date of the professional holiday for psychologists was established in honor of the first congress of the Russian Psychological Society in 1994. The purpose of this celebration is to highlight the significance of mental health, to demonstrate the importance and necessity of such a profession as psychologist.
At the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology at UMTE, serious emphasis is placed on the professional self-determination of future psychologists, understanding that it is a long process that lasts the whole person's life. Nevertheless, it is university education that ensures the significance, awareness, and meaningful value of a young professional’s self-determination. That is why from the very first classes, students begin to form an idea of the specifics of their upcoming studies, setting them not only on acquiring new knowledge but also on developing a new type of thinking – the mindset of a practicing psychologist. Educational programmes and training standards for practicing psychologists pay a great attention to the development of the spiritual, moral and ethical aspects of professionalism.
We wish our professors and psychology students success in helping others to understand their problems, giving them strength and positive emotions, and always find sources of inspiration for their work. Be free, happy, sincere and assist people to harmonize the same feelings!
