Saint Petersburg welcomed guests at the International Economic Forum, which was attended by 17 thousand representatives from 130 countries. Students of the Institute of International Programs of UMTE took part in this grand event as volunteers.

The XXVI Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum took place on June 14-17, 2023. It is one of the largest and most significant business events in the world. Over 25 years, the Forum has earned the status of the world's leading platform for discussing key issues of the global economy and sharing best global practices and competencies to ensure sustainable development.

How to get to such an event attended by heads of state and government, heads of major companies, and experts from academia? The answer is obvious - to become a volunteer. It is they who every year help the organizers to hold the Forum, and their work is very important.

Anastasia Kopyeva and Naiba Musayeva, students of the Saint Petersburg University of Management Technologies and Economics, were volunteers at SPIEF for the second time. They found out about the recruitment of volunteers at the university and submitted an application. When it was approved, the girls were sent methodological materials to prepare for the exam. The exam consisted of checking knowledge about the Forum and its passage, as well as checking the level of English.

Anastasia Kopyeva: "More than a thousand applications were submitted, but only half of those who wanted to volunteer were able to do so. We worked in the "access control" block. Our task was to help the Ministry of Internal Affairs staff with access to the forum site.

Being a SPIEF volunteer is very difficult, but interesting. It is an opportunity to communicate with many people, meet media personalities and representatives of the Russian government, and feel involved in such a large-scale event».

Musaeva Naiba: "I participated in the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum for the second time. I received information about the forum from my acquaintances, but I learned about the opportunity to participate in it from our university. At first, I submitted an application on the Roscongress website, and after it was approved, I was sent methodological materials for preparing for the exam in my personal account.

My job was to help where security checks were carried out on forum participants. Volunteering at SPIEF requires a lot of effort, but at the same time it is very interesting - you learn so many new things. My attention was attracted by Sberbank's Beacon Polyglot and VK stands, as they presented interesting opportunities and information for participants.
