SPIEF (Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum) – 2023: Representatives of UMTE became active participants

21 June 2023

At the Forum events held in Saint Petersburg from June 14 to 17, our representatives participated as experts in panel discussions, students took part in the SPIEF Youth Day and worked as volunteers.

Evgeny Shchipanov, Director of the Institute of Economics, Management and Information Technology, and Elena Ushakova, Head of the Department of Management and Public and Municipal Administration, were experts at the panel discussion "Technological Sovereignty in Information Technology", which focused on the peculiarities of the transition to new domestic solutions, which has a significant impact on the requirements for qualifications in the labor market.

Evgeny Shchipanov also took part in the panel discussion "Talents Battle: Sovereignty of Human Resources - 2023. How to keep young people in Russia?". The Forum paid special attention to ensuring technological sovereignty in the field of information technology.

Elena Ushakova was an expert on the panel session "The Role of Women in Building Russia's Future". The issue of women's participation in the life of the country is becoming increasingly relevant. Women's contribution to Russia's development and their responsibility for its future is a very relevant and significant matter, not only for women themselves, but also for the country as a whole and the role it plays in the international arena. The session addressed the issues of educating new generations, attracting young people to science, the woman's face of Russian science, and opportunities for women's self-realization in business, politics and economics.

Elena Ushakova successfully negotiated cooperation with a number of new partners, including the Analytical Centre of the Government of the Russian Federation, on cooperative work to introduce innovative management practices in the regions.

At the forum, Evgeny Shchipanov exchanged ideas on new projects with Sber Bank, 1C, system integrator T1, the Industrial Development Centre, and other business leaders and infrastructure organisations.

Students from all UMTE Institutes worked as volunteers, helped the event organizers and also took a part in the SPIEF Youth Day. Yulia Skripilova, a student at the Institute of Economics, Management and Information Technologies, organized the "Your Way" event as part of SPIEF Youth Day, which brought together regional team representatives and ambassadors from across Russia and also served as a platform for the first Voskhod Winners Club meeting.

Christina Shenk, the head of the "Your Way" project, and Yakov Chernyshev, the project manager, delivered speeches at the event. Participants were offered a networking session to develop a concept for the future work of the Millionaires' Club in the "PROSTO.VASILEOSTROVSKY" space, as well as a concert program on the roof of the Roof Place.

Impressions of Anastasia Bekhler, a first-year student at the Institute of International Program: “Firstly, the Forum comprised numerous lectures and projects. In particular, we were a part of the project "Destiny: Practices and Internships" a project, which examined the challenges of student internships and provided insight into employers' professional positions on the issue.

Secondly, it is quite simply a giant digest of the event's partners, each of whom represented their area of expertise in a variety of way. Russian Railways, for example, displayed virtual reality glasses showing the history of the railways. In addition, nearly all cities and regions of the Russian Federation were represented through exhibitions.”
