Virtual train departs for Mexico

08 September 2023

Summer is over. But this is not a reason to be sad. This is a reason to remember all the best moments of this summer and say "thank you". We also decided to plunge into memories and tell you about the brightest event of this summer in the life of Saint Petersburg University of Management Technologies and Economics – about the international online school "Business Culture of Russia and Mexico: features and opportunities for cooperation", which took place on July 3-7, 2023.

International online schools have long become an integral part of the life of our university, but this particular school has become special for us. This is because the new school was organized mutually with Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (Mexico).

Participants of the program were students from Saint Petersburg University of Management Technologies and Economics and Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León.
The organizers approached the selection of speakers with special care, therefore participants were expected to take courses developed by highly qualified teachers from Russia and Mexico, who were able to give participants new culture and business knowledge.

The school was opened by George Varlamov, Associate Professor of the Department of International Finance and Accounting of Saint Petersburg University of Management Technologies and Economics, and Patricia Sepulveda, professor of the Faculty of Political Science and International Relations of Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León. The teachers told the participants about the features of business communications and introduced them to the cultures of their countries. Increased interest was aroused by the question of how culture affects doing business.

The second day of the program was devoted to the political and geographical history of Russia and Mexico. Ivan Hoel Cedillo Gonzalez, a teacher of Saint Petersburg University of Management Technologies and Economics, and Sandy Martinez, a teacher of Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, together with school participants, they plunged in the bright history of the two countries.

On the third day of the program, Ksenia Kuzmina and Gabriela Bermejo picked up the torch. The participants of the school, together with Ksenia Kuzmina, understood what kind of reality it is for strategic planning in modern Russia, and also considered successful cases in the sphere of project management. After that, the participants plunged into the complex world of investments. Gabriela Bermejo tried to tell about the details that exist in the field of foreign direct investment, and what attracts investors in Mexico.

On the fourth day, participants, together with Ivan Gonzalez and Dante Mendoza, analyzed in detail foreign policy and trade relations between Russia and Mexico.
The main topic of the final day was diplomatic relations between Russia and Mexico. Gabriela Mata, a teacher from Mexico, explained what the essence of diplomacy is, told what the country's foreign policy consists of and how diplomatic relations between our countries have developed.

All participants were very satisfied with the program. And this is not surprising, because events of this format provide an opportunity to make new acquaintances in other countries, learn a lot of new things and expand your horizons. And, of course, all participants received certificates prepared mutually by the two universities.
