Dynamic Development of Cooperation with Partners from Thailand

On May 15, 2023, during the business trip, the delegation of Saint Petersburg University of Management Technologies and Economics visited the Walailak University (Thailand).

During the visit, the Rector Associate Professor Dr. Oleg Smeshko and Vice-Rector for Research and International Affairs Associate Professor Dr. Anna Rumyantseva conducted negotiations with the President Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong and the leadership of Walailak University, got acquainted with the university infrastructure, summarized and discussed plans for further scientific and academic cooperation. Thus, during the visit the universities highlighted the importance of academic cooperation and discussed plans for the next academic year, including joint research opportunities in IT management, basics courses in the Russian and Thai languages, student exchange programs in Economics and Finance etc.

The visit took place in the framework of bilateral cooperation between UMTE and Walailak University which has been developing since September 2022, when a cooperation agreement was signed between the universities.

Before the signing, Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, the President of Walailak University, Vice-Presidents Associate Professor Dr. Charun Bunyakan and Associate Professor Dr. Suwit Wuthisuthimethavee, and Associate Professor Dr. Patnarin Supakorn, Director of the Center for International Affairs, came to UMTE in June 2022 to learn about the University and its experience in international cooperation. 

In February 2023, the professor of Walailak University Dr. Suchita Manajit visited Saint Petersburg University of Management Technologies and Economics. She gave a lecture in English to UMTE students on the topic “Thailand Tourism after COVID-19 pandemic”.
 

Walailak University is a public university founded in 1992. The university was named after Princess Chulabhorn Walailak. Walailak University offers students 46 bachelor programmes and 28 masters programmes in 16 different areas.
